昨日 Fitness Zone 和 政府單位MoH 簽訂合約為推廣健康生活做準備。

- MoH expands anti-obesity campaign 

AS PART of the Ministry of Health's (MoH) efforts to combat obesity in the country, the ministry signed a memorandum of agreement with Fitness Zone yesterday to further boost the effectiveness of their Healthy Lifestyle Clinic.

With the signing of the agreement, members of the MoH's ongoing 12-week programme at the clinic will now be able to make use of the established fitness centre's facilities and professional guidance during the programme.

Members of the clinic will also be offered discounted membership rates at the fitness centre for 12 weeks they are with the Healthy Lifestyle Clinic. As part of the deal, instructors of Fitness Zone will conduct aerobic exercises with members of the clinic twice a week, sponsored by the MoH.

Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Md Yusof, who was guest of honour at the signing ceremony, said the cooperation between MoH and Fitness Zone was part of the ministry's efforts to combat obesity. "This is part of the project to encourage people, especially obese people, to join the healthy lifestyle programme," he said.

The minister said he hopes with the signing of the agreement, the programme would flourish further.

In an interview with The Brunei Times, Fitness Zone's Managing Director, Goh Kiat Chun, more popularly known as Wu Chun, said: "We are very happy that MoH considered us to be their partner because we also want Brunei to be a healthier place to live in."

"We share the same vision so I think we will make a difference," he added.

Goh said the participants would be educated in nutrition and healthy living. "We have a programme for them every week and they will have a set target that we will try to help them achieve," he said.

Participants of the programme can train either at the fitness centre or at the MoH's own gym.

"If they follow the programme and at the same time, get to know more knowledge about healthy lifestyle, I think they will improve. In coming months, they can see improvements," Goh said.

The signing was held at Fitness Zone's Serusop branch. Signing on behalf of the MoH was Dr Zainal Ariffin Hj Yahya, acting director general of MoH while signing on behalf of Fitness Zone was Goh.

After the signing ceremony, the health minister was led by Goh around his fitness centre to take a look at its facilities. The minister and Goh even participated in a brief spinning class together during the tour.

Also present at the event were Dato Paduka Hj Abd Salam Abd Momin, Permanent Secretary of MoH, deputy permanent secretaries, senior directors, chairpersons and senior officers of the ministry. Witnesses for the signing were Dr Hjh Norhayati Hj Md Kassim, Head of Health Promotion Centre, MoH and Goh Kim Tian, manager of Fitness Zone.

Wu Chun Sees Potential For Fitness Academy In Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan - To further boost the local capacity in the field of professionals in the fitness industry, Fitness Zone, one of the most popular fitness centre in Brunei is looking at setting up a fitness academy in Brunei by this year.

Asian Superstar Wu Chun, the owner of Fitness Zone, in an interview, revealed his intention of setting up a fitness academy yesterday following the Memorandum ofAgreement signing with Ministry of Health. 

He said, "Fitness Zone is looking to bring in a fitness academy into the country and we are currently in discussion with FISAF Switzerland."

Wu Chun, who is also a fitness enthusiast, also said, "We still have to discuss with the Ministry of Health and also the Ministry of Education because it is related with the academy."

He said that the academy will have various fields of interest like sports, fitness and nutrition.

"If we have the academy in Brunei, Bruneians will not need to go overseas to get training." 

The owner of Fitness Zone who was also one of the members of the boy band Fahrenheit pointed out, "I feel that there is huge potential in the academy.

In the past, I have more than 10 members who are so interested in fitness that they followed my trainer overseas to receive training." 

He hoped that the fitness industry will grow even bigger by producing more fitness professionals and hopefully, through this more people will realise the importance of being fit and healthy through gym. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletinc

國人受促健康生活對抗慢性病上升之勢

衛生部代理行政總監再諾阿里芬醫生今天中午在一項記者會上說,眾所周知,近年汶萊的慢性疾病如癌症、心髒病、糖尿病、肥胖和中風等的患者逐年上升,衛生當局認為,在國民之間推廣健康生活方式,將是對抗這些主要由不健康飲食、缺少運動和吸煙等引起的疾病的最佳方法。 

2011-2015年健康推廣藍皮書將列舉預防和控制慢性疾病的中短期必要措施。再諾阿里芬醫生說,推廣健康生活將是一種低成本、高效益的因應措施。 

配合2011-2015年健康推廣藍皮書的推展,一項為期3個星期(至5月9日為止)的健康推廣展覽也將在健康推廣中心舉行。

據健康推廣中心主任哈嘉諾哈雅蒂醫生介紹,3星期展覽期間的主要活動將包括:

第一星期--健康推廣展覽將在健康推廣中心舉行至5月1日,每天開放時間是上午8點至下午5點,星期五是上午8點至11點及下午2點半至5點。參展者包括衛生部、政府醫院、私人醫院和一些提供健康菜單的餐廳。 4月24日(星期日)早上6點半,健康推廣健行活動將在斯市市中心廣場舉行,路程分3.4公里(女性)和3.5公里(男性),歡迎各階層民眾踴躍攜眷穿著藍衣參加(藍色是健康推廣運動主調顏色)。

第二星期--4月29日(星期五)上午9點,汶萊皇家餐飲公司有健康烹飪示範;下午2點半,類似健康烹飪示範在斯里幹迪餐廳舉行。由於座位有限,出席者宜先報名(報名免費)。 5月1日(星期日)早上6點半,一項趣味健康尋寶活動將在健康推廣中心附近的公園舉行,只接受最先報名的20組參加者,每組5人的報名費為50元。報名表格可在健康推廣中心底層健康生活方式診所獲得,報名截止日期是本月25日。

第三星期--5月5日(星期五)有健康推廣論壇,5月8日(星期日)則有腳車活動(地點是哈山納波基亞國家體育館舉行,歡迎有興趣民眾參加)。
